The Houston Astros have a long history in this great city and if you’re looking for things to do, this is one of the best ways to spend your time. For over sixty years, Houston has had some sort of professional baseball team. It started with a St. Louis Cardinals farm team, but by 1965, it became home to the Houston Astros.

Today, the Houston Astros play their home games at Minute Maid Park, but it wasn’t always this way. They used to play at the Houston Astrodome. When it was first built in 1965, it was the first domed stadium, which earned its nickname as the 8th Wonder of the World. The first game ever played there was against the New York Yankees, which truly brought Major League Baseball to the city.

There’s something for everyone at Minute Maid Park and even with the hundred degree plus heat outside, the retractable roof helps keep all the fans comfortable inside. You’ll find a number of food stations inside, including some of the Houston restaurants that are so loved. Papa John’s Pizza and Prince’s hamburgers top the list, but there are a number of Houston restaurants close to the stadium, too. Many people take in a ball game and then visit one of the many favored Houston restaurants afterwards.

During the 1980s when the Houston Astros made the playoffs for the first time, the city was enthralled. However, when they finally played in the World Series in 2005, the city could say it had a championship team. Now, there are two former Astros players that have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio. These two players were part of the World Series team that the city loved so much.

Minute Maid Park is one of the largest venues in the area, so there are also a number of concerts and other events held here each year. One of the reasons why this is such a popular venue for these types of events is because of the large number of hotel rooms and Houston restaurants in the area, too. While the Astros are certainly one of the biggest draws of Minute Maid Park, the other events can pack the house, as well.

If you’re looking for a great place to visit for a few days, consider Houston. This great city has a number of attractions, including the Houston Zoo. There are family friendly events all over the city, but some of the favorites include the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros. For sports fans, these professional sporting teams provide a great deal of fun and entertainment. It also brings a lot of revenue to the city and the Houston restaurants and hotels stay busy. With all there is to see and do in Houston, you’re sure to have a great time here, even if it’s just a few days escape with your family.
