There are many ways to spend a wonderful holiday in England. Some people prefer to just take a car and drive down the country side and enjoy the scenery. Yet there are many people who would like firsthand feel to their trip and would love to hike or go cycling. The new way of holidaying is by taking up walking holidays. The beautiful and exquisite moorlands rise right above the Dales which is more than 600M or possibly even higher.

The Dales Way runs across the Yorkshire Dales National Park and along the lakes of the Lake District. The Dales Way is a beautiful valley walk. It has some of the most beautiful landscapes in all of England. Surrounding these landscapes there are very beautiful views that you will never miss of self guided walking holidays. The views of the Yorkshire folk compliment the Yorkshire Dales and their farms in every aspect. The Yorkshire dales and Farms are filled with dry-stone walks and barns that are made of stone too. Some people think that this is one of the most beautiful places to visit and take a walking holiday in.
The Dales Way starts from a very small and attractive town called as Illkley which is overlooked by the Illkley Moor and is found closer to the river Wharfe. The river Wharfe comes out from the Wharfedale.The path follows the river and runs past the ruins of Bolton Abbey and all along the Strid ravine.when you pass through the various beautiful villages you will find them exquisite looking. The climbing will be over wild and open moorland and you will reach the highest point at Cam Fell at 518m.
You will also find that Dentdale will be a lot more quiet and very remote that Wharfedale. The walk that you take will enable you to pass through the amazingly beautiful village of Dent which has the entire street studded with cobble stone and then you will move onto Sedbergh. This is a busy market town that is found right under the steep slopes of Howgill Fells. On the last two days of the tour you will be delighted to walk through the various landscapes with the small sheep farms that will you will find before the land becomes a lot more rugged then you will come into the beautiful Lake District.
