Millions of people regularly experience from insomnia each year; Insomnia is forty one percent more prevalent in women as compared to men. Insomnia is a sign that can escort sleep, medicinal and psychiatric disarray, distinguished by constant complexity falling asleep or difficulty staying asleep. Its consequence differs according to its source. symptoms like unable to sleep,muscular fatigue,hallucinations,or mental fatigue are common and might differ according to the source,in chronic insomnia it shows repeated alertness.

Examples of insomnia: Onset insomnia - difficulty in falling asleep at the beginning of the night, habitually related with fretfulness. Between of the night insomnia consequences in chronic stern to nap after arousing in the middle of the night. Nocturnal awakenings include middle and terminal insomnia. Nocturnal polyuria- extreme nighttime urination can be very upsetting to sleep. middle insomnia causes difficulty in sleeping resulting in the person getting up in the middle of the night. Often allied with medical disorder or any type of pain. Lack of proper sleep can be a major cause of depression. Some sleep disorders such as insomnia has been found to compromise glucose metabolism. Sleep apnea is a state that arises when a sleeping person's breathing is interrupted.

A study found that those who sleep about 7 hours per night had the lowest rates of mortality, while those who sleep for less than 6 hours or more than 8 hours had higher mortality rates.Mortality rate increase is one of the reasons of excessive intake of sleeping pills. The less mortality was seen in people who sleep among 6-7 hours per night. Insomnia can be caused by: Psychoactive drugs or stimulants including caffeine, medications, cocaine, and life problems like stress fear anxiety, emotional or mental tension, work problems, financial stress, or mental disorders, poor sleep hygiene, for example noise.Insomnia can be frequent after the loss of a loved one, yet years or decades after the death, if they have not gone through the grieving process. Overall, symptoms and the degree of their severity affect each individual differently depending on their mental health, physical condition, and attitude or personality.

A common misperception is that the amount of sleep required decreases as a person grows older. The ability to sleep for long periods, rather than the need for sleep, appears to be lost as people get older. It is important to identify or rule out medical and psychological causes before deciding on the treatment for the insomnia.
