We undoubtedly live our lives in very tightly knitted little worlds. Despite the casual beach vacation we tend to see only one way to live our lives. Our way. Broadening the mind through the experience of different cultures can change the way we see the world, and enrich the way we live our lives. Thanks to its abundance of cross culture the New Orleans makes a perfect city to visit in order to grasp how the rest of the world spends their lives.

New Orleans can be found in south-eastern Louisiana where it straddles the Mississippi river. Its region is bounded by parishes that are dotted around the north, east, south and west of the city. It prides itself on a multi-lingual heritage and plays host to a collection of world renowned sites. From the French Quarter, to the night life in Bourbon Street, New Orleans offers its visitor’s a wide spectrum of things to do. Perhaps that’s why it’s in the top 10 visited cities in the United States.

In terms of places to stay the New Orleans will spoil you for choice. With many 19th century mansions having been converted for tourists, and the French Quarter hosting a wide variety of hotels you won’t struggle to find a place to stay. Most of the hotels hold within them a history of their own right, giving you the chance to sleep under a significant part of American heritage.

The city plays host to a wide variety of fine cuisine offered by only the most sophisticated of restaurants. Through centuries of cultural combination, New Orleans now boasts food that is incredibly unique in its nature. Ingredients from French, Spanish, Italian, and even African cultures fuse together to create a truly distinct Louisiana flavour.

New Orleans saw the birth of Jazz and hosts annual festivals and events to celebrate this fact. "Jazz Fest" is the largest of these and despite its name includes a variety of music. These festivals are un-missable for anyone with a passion for music as they see both international artists, and local Louisiana cultures combined for entertainment. New Orleans was one of the only cities that allowed slaves to produce music on the street hence the formation of Jazz. This raw and incredible history seams through the heart and soul of New Orleans – producing music that will truly blow you away.

The city prides itself on deep historical roots, with architecture that represents all walks of life. A break in New Orleans will allow you to visit buildings of all types including, Greek Colonial, American Revival, and even Victorian. Magnificent mansions will astound you and as you learn about their history you will be able to empathise with their structures. If you care for architecture, New Orleans will care for you.
