The Cote d'Azur, also known as the French Riviera, runs along the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast of France. Holidaying in the Cote d'Azur first became a British favourite as a winter holiday destination as the Mediterranean climate offers a great escape from the grey winter skies we are so used to, but with the temperature rarely exceeding the mid 30's it's never too hot to get around to see the local sights. The area is now a favourite holiday destination for many, all year round.

The Cote d'Azur has an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, has 115 kilometres of beautiful coastline and beaches, and has a number of golf courses, ski resorts and restaurants. Whatever you are looking for on your holiday can be found here.

The French Riviera is home to a number of seaside resorts such as Cannes, Antibes and Saint-Tropez that offers glamour and nightlife that should be tried by all if given the opportunity. With its long miles of coast line the area also boasts a number of marinas and is a major yachting centre - don't worry if you don't have your own yacht or haven't been on one before as there is plenty of opportunity to hire one for a few days and be taken out by an experienced crew.

The largest city within the Cote d'Azur region is Nice, also the 5th largest city in France. Nice is steeped in history and is believed to be one of the oldest human settlements in the world. There have been a number of archaeological finds in the area and many come to Nice to enjoy the local history.

If you are looking for a short city break as opposed to a long summer holiday by the beach, then Nice could be the place for you. It is home to the famous Cours Saleya market and has a number of excellent restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets. Accommodation in Nice is also varied and plentiful and you can choose from luxury hotels to bed and breakfasts run by the locals.

If the focus of your holiday lies more with relaxation and soaking up the sunshine whilst lying by the pool, then one of the many seaside resorts is for you. If you want to go a step further and secure some privacy along with peace and quiet, then renting a holiday home or villa in the area could be right up your street.

There are numerous opportunities to rent accommodation for the whole family and every budget is catered for. In the Cote d'Azur you will find holiday homes and villas big enough for the whole family plus quaint cottages and smaller properties if you are looking for a romantic get away for two.
