Most feline lovers want to ensure the best cat coat care, dental care and digestive care for their furry little friend. In addition to fighting bad breath in cats and keeping their coats shiny, it’s also important to make sure they’re eating right, getting plenty of water and leading an active lifestyle. One of the best tricks for keeping your cat healthy may actually be hiding in your backyard, and your kitty probably already knows about it. Grass, which you may see your cat eating from time to time, is actually very healthy for your cat and can provide healthful benefits for their teeth, tummies and coats.

There are many benefits to grass and other greens for kitties, so next time your furry little friend starts chewing your plants, you might take it as a hint and get them some grass of their own to chew on. Many people believe grass is an excellent hairball remedy for cats because it aids in digestion and keeps the coat healthy, and others swear by it because of the chlorophyll in it. Since greens like grass have chlorophyll, they can help fight bad breath in cats, which everyone can appreciate.

You probably don’t want your purring pal to chew up all your houseplants and leave holes in the lawn, but there are other ways to make sure they get their greens. There are small patches of grass that you can purchase to let your cat chew on, for example. There are also indoor nutritional products that have greens in them already, which are specially formulated for cats that live in the house and don’t have access to grass in the outdoor world. Or, you can just let your cats out in the backyard and let them have at it – if you don’t mind a few chewed up patches of grass out there.
