Dog breeding is the practice of coupling the dogs for preserving or producing specific qualities & features. The person in this occupation who is involved in dog breeding is referred to as dog breeder. 1) Mixed Breed Dogs
The ancestry of mixed breed dogs is not known & it contain characteristics of two or more kinds of breeds.

Advantages
a) You can prefer different types of dogs & pups from a various types of dogs.
b) They generally have fewer health problems.
c) In general mixed breed dogs have life a little longer.

Disadvantages
a) Sometimes it is hard to determine the characters that puppy may have in adult life.
b) Many times you are not able to see parents of pup. So it may be hard to determine dispositions.

2) Pure Breed Dogs
It is the modern dog breed which resembles to other dogs of the same breed. Pure breed dogs are also called as purebred dogs.

Advantages
a) General characteristics of whelp or dog can be recognized. Health concerns and common health status can be identified somewhat.

Disadvantages
a) Purebred dogs in general have a little lifespan.
b) Generally have more health problems than mixed breed dogs.
c) Buying from the breeder is much costly.

Why dog breeding is famous?
1) It is to make money
To earn from dog breeding is the occupation done by breeder. It is not easy to make money from this occupation. It need initial investing money firstly for buying bitch. Then you have to wait minimum two years before breeding. Then all maintenance, health checkup, you have much expenses on that. You will have to pay stud fee & expenses during pregnancy. All these expenses are involved in initially stage. If somebody cover this stage by his/her business mind then he can earn a lot from this business.

2) Need of a specimen with desired qualities
From the history, it is found that there is relationship between humans and certain types of dog over hundreds of years. At that time, domestic dogs were developed into hunting dogs, sighthounds etc. So for filling different features in the offspring, dogs are mated and this process till going on. Now hundreds of dog species are found due to this process.

Precautions
1) Dogs going in breeding should be free from illnesses.
2) Vaccination should be done for the bitch so that coming pup should have immunity.
3) If you wish another one just like your dog, then some characters come from male & some from female. In fact you will never get a perfect couple & you may end up distinguishing feature of both dogs.
4) To earn money from dog breeding is not so easy. Much more maintenance is involved in this process so there are many expenses initially. Whelps need their first shots before going to new home and the mother needs check-ups frequently. If something goes wrong in that it will always be wrong.
