So I think Smart, no pun intended, is a smart hire. The whole organization is in transition right now, which gives people an opportunity to do something different, and I think the players are going to react to that in a positive way. I think they'll run through a wall for Smart.

"In the long run (Nelson's departure) will be bittersweet, though," Turman said. "The general take - I think Don's years will be remembered as a good time in Warriors history. I just felt it never really matriculated into what it could have been. But in the long term, he'll be seen as a winning coach who led us to some interesting places."
