When it comes to cat food there are many different products to choose from in pet stores and supermarkets. Many of these products claim to be all natural cat food, which sounds like the right choice, but how can you be sure that the ingredients are really as high in quality as the manufacturers claim? Of course if your cat lived like his or her ancestors, hunting small animals in the wild and snacking on green plants right out of the earth, then there would be no doubt that their diet was 100% all-natural. But for modern cat lovers, there are other ways to make sure the diet of a feline friend is truly healthy and organic.

When purchasing organic cat food it is always important to look for five essential features that ensure a proper feline diet. These are the five basic components of a good diet for your cat:

* High quality meat

* Antioxidants

* Protein

* Whole grain fiber

* Iron

There are usually other ingredients in cat food besides meat and bones, which is necessary, but cats definitely need protein to build muscles and to provide an energy source. Some cat foods contain a little bit of egg or cheese, which is another source of protein. Cat foods often contain green vegetables as well, which cats need for help with digestion. And a small amount of grain is necessary as well. What cats need most of, however, is meat. That meat, whether it is beef, fish, lamb or poultry, should be high in quality. You don’t want to feed your cat the leftover bits and pieces from a meat manufacturing plant that would never be fit for human consumption. Doesn’t your furry friend deserve better than that?

So if you’re trying to decide which organic cat food is best, always look for the one with the highest quality meat, and the most of it. Then make sure the other ingredients are in a well-balanced blend to promote optimum health for your cat.
