Every woman wants to have the latest and greatest in birth control methods. Each new improvement touts that it’s safer, more effective, and easier to use than previous iterations were. One of the newest methods on the market, Nuvaring, says that it is all three of these things. It’s supposed to be safer because it delivers incredibly low doses of hormones. It’s supposed to be more effective because you don’t have to remember to take a pill every day, and it’s supposed to be easier to use because it only needs to be replaced once a month.

Even though Nuvaring may be more effective for women and easier to use for most women out there, it may not be safer than other types of birth control at all. Yes, it does deliver lower doses of synthetic hormones. This is because the hormones are absorbed directly through the vaginal walls. Since they enter the blood stream very near to the female reproductive organs, the Nuvaring can use fewer hormones and still be effective.

However, sometimes quality matters more than quantity, and this is one of those cases. Every type of birth control on the market these days offers different types of synthetic hormones. These hormones have been fine tuned to mess with the female reproductive system so that pregnancy becomes a near impossibility while they’re in the system. However, not all of these hormones are created equal. Some seem to have more and more severe side effects than others.

The hormones in Nuvaring certainly fall into this category. These hormones seem to cause serious side effects more often than other forms of birth control. One of the main Nuvaring side effects that women should be concerned with is blood clots.

Why Be Concerned?

Many women who have researched birth control options at all know that most types of birth control come with an increased risk of problems like blood clotting. For the most part, doctors hate prescribing overweight women, women over the age of thirty-five, and women who smoke birth control pills. This is because these women already have risk factors for blood clots. When these risk factors are combined with birth control, it can certainly spell trouble.

The problem with Nuvaring, though, is that it may cause blood clots in perfectly healthy women. Of course, many people aren’t aware of this, which is why they think Nuvaring is the best thing compared to other birth control options. This contraceptive option, though, may seriously increases the risk of blood clots in almost all women, and it seems to cause more problems than other types of hormonal birth control.

Even though this is true, Nuvaring has been touted as one of the safest options on the market for a while now. For this reason, those who have seen firsthand just how unsafe Nuvaring can be have decided to take action against the manufacturers of this birth control option. They have chosen to start Nuvaring lawsuits that get them compensation for their medical bills as well as their pain and suffering.
