Pine furniture is made of a soft natural wood which continues to ‘respire’ when there are changes in the temperature and the environment where it is placed. It is recommended that you use Murphy oil, Murphy soap, lemon oil or Old English oil for your cleaning.

Pine furniture has a natural stain that tends to react with almost all manmade products. If you have to experiment on any product, try it out on a hidden place of the furniture and look for any reactions. Note that using any cleaning materials other than those recommended not only damages the surface of your pine furniture but also invalidates any claims whatsoever.

Pine furniture care also includes surface re-treating from time to time to be able to maintain its distinctive character. Re-treating can simply be done using unperfumed (blocked wax). Just rub the wax over the entire furniture, ensuring you follow the instructions from the manufactures to the letter. Bearing in mind that wood ‘breathes’ depending on the room temperature, you shouldn’t be surprised to find your pine furniture is more waxier than before.

Be it the bedroom furniture or living room furniture, they all require regular normal inspections such as tightening the fittings; knobs and hinges. A lot of damages in pine furniture can be avoided if one identifies the elements causing the problems.

Repairing pine furniture requires very simple steps. For instance, if you want to fix indentations on your pine furniture, simply boil water in a kettle and pour a small amount of the water on the dent, removing excess water with a piece of soft cloth. The area is expected to plump up back to normal. However, it may require a second treatment where you use fine steel wool to finish it off. Never beat up your furniture to look old, simply create authentic scrapes and marks with hand tools.
