In business, image and identity is everything. A consistent look and feel is critical to create a memorable brand in the market. This is why using reliable promotional materials is essential. But, just how critical is producing high quality, reliable, and consistent marketing materials? Remember that these materials serve as the face of your business, so it’s essential that they do not only look good, but they also need to convey a consistent message. You would not want to confuse your target customers with incoherent messages, right?

Your promotional materials speak a lot about your brand, your business, and credibility. Might as well make them perfect.

The same idea works for your business cards. If you are considering creating your next batch of business card templates today, there are some guidelines you need to consider, including the following:

Do not leave home without your cards. Before you go out your door, include your cards in your checklist next to your wallet and car keys. After all, you never know when you will meet new customers, so you need to be always ready when the opportunity comes. A simple morning run or a quick trip to the grocery is a great opportunity to market. Make it a habit to carry your cards with you all the time.

Consider putting your business card in your bill payments. Usually, bills are enclosed with advertisements. Why not do the same with your payments? Insert a card with your payment. Do not take too lightly the power of networking. Seen the movie “6 Degrees of Separation”? The movie says that we are six people away from knowing someone of power. Who knows you could be six people away from knowing the President of the United Sates or Brad Pitt. Every one of us knows somebody, who knows some body, and who knows somebody else. Taking advantage of this powerful networking strategy will be a great source of success.

Give your card to everyone, even to your family and friends. Give them two or three of your business cards, which they can give to people they know who might need your products or services. Do not hoard your cards as it will only hinder your sales and profits.

Practice good business card etiquette. When you want to give your card to someone, don’t just give it out as it will make you look pushy. Be sure to ask for the person’s card first because they are likely to ask for yours in return. Likewise, when receiving a card, don't just take it and put it in your wallet. Be sure to read the card to make the person feel important. You can also write notes on the card such as the date and some common points of interest. This will show them that you have sincere interest in the other person. Keep in mind that if you make people feel important, you can make yourself important to them.

Consider asking for referrals. When giving your card to people, consider asking them to refer your business to anyone they know that could use your services. But remember not to push a referral from people. It would be better if you ask people not to make them feel obligated to refer you to others. This way they will feel better to help you.
